7 people也可以作为普通的单数名词出现，表示一个民族，此时它可以有复数形式，two peoples就是两个民族或两国人民（意义重点仍然在国际关系而不在国内关系）。
尤其是如果people前面有表示特性的形容词，或是后面有表示特性的定语成分，就可以用不定冠词a。
There are a proud people. 他们是个自豪的民族。
The Swedes are a Germanic people. 瑞典人是个日耳曼民族。
但是动词与代词仍然多用复数。
8作为单数普通名词的people，不但可以指一个民族，也可以缩小到只是指一个家族。
In Germany we were a highly civilized and respected people. Mendelssohn was my distant cousin. 当年在德国，我们一家是名门望族书香门第。门德尔松还是我的远方表亲呢。
9 person是一般意义的人。
复数时除非特别强调数字的准确，通常不说persons而说people。
